To all members,

Everyone would be aware that Mike Summers graciously accepted the appointment of Head Junior Coach on an interim basis until the Committee had finalised arrangements after the departing of Gary Walmsley. We sincerely thank Mike for all of the hard work he has done this year. We also thank those members who volunteered their time to assist Mike in the junior coaching program.

The Committee has now employed a Centre Coordinator on a casual basis. We received a very large number of applications for this position and after an interview and selection criteria process was followed, the position of employment was offered to Jennine Delf, who has accepted and commenced the employment with us. The Committee will endeavour to introduce Jennine to members over the coming weeks as the induction process continues.

The second aspect for resolution since Gary’s departing is the appointment of new coaches. Exact arrangements will be confirmed once nominations are received and the matter reviewed further, but it is currently anticipated that there be an appointed Junior Head Coach for the junior training program and also a Coaching Panel. The Junior Head Coach is separate and distinct from the Coaching Panel. Both the Junior Head Coach and the Coaching Panel would report directly to the new Centre Coordinator (from an administrative perspective). Whilst the general concept for private coaching by members remains unaltered, the new process is intended to simply and clarify the private coaching arrangements for the benefit of all members.

The Junior Head Coach is someone who would be responsible for undertaking the junior coaching program operating on Monday and Friday afternoons and on Saturday morning.  This is likely to be a paid position of employment with the Association. The Coaching Panel will consist of members who provide some tangible benefit to the club (such as volunteering their time to assist the Junior Head Coach in the junior training programs) and who wish to undertake paid private coaching lessons for the benefit of our club’s members. Only people on the Coaching Panel can undertake private coaching of members.

Of course, if someone does not wish to be on the Coaching Panel then the Association certainty welcomes anyone wishing to assist in our junior training programs. This would be under the direction of the Junior Head Coach.

There is a Volunteer Agreement that would require signing for members on the Coaching Panel and/or members assisting with the junior training program. A copy can be provided on request.

Therefore, the Committee wishes to call for nominations for the following:-

1. members who wish to be on the Coaching Panel;
2. the Junior Head Coach position; and
3. any volunteers wishing to assist in the junior training program.
